Macau’s gross gaming revenue for June 2026 reached $2.29bn, marking a 12.1% year-on-year decline. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau released the official financial figures on July 1.
Revenue Figures and Forecasts
The June total of MOP18.52bn also recorded an 18.1% drop compared to May’s MOP22.61bn. Market observers had previously projected a slowdown for the summer period, and the reported numbers align with those forecasts.Industry analysts attribute the revenue contraction to the ongoing FIFA World Cup. The current tournament features 104 matches, a format that exceeds the 64 games held in 2018 and more than doubles the 51 fixtures of UEFA Euro 2024. Experts note the extended calendar "weighs on demand" by keeping visitors engaged with matches rather than casino floors.
Earlier tournament data shows that shorter sporting events typically see a quicker return of foot traffic to gaming venues.
